How do I contact Durham Tech? |
The Admissions Department at Durham Tech assists students with the process of applying
to a curriculum program. Admissions officers answer questions about requirements for
admission, provide information about placement testing opportunities, award transfer
credit, and keep students informed about items required for full acceptance into programs.

Durham Tech's Advising Center offers assistance in locating and securing an
academic advisor, coordinates academic advising during scheduled registration
periods, conducts new student advising following the college placement test, assists
students with generating a PIN number for telephone registration, and is open at posted
daily hours during with students can drop in for advising or obtain an advising referral.

The Counseling and Student
Development Department offers academic and brief personal counseling to students in need.
Confidential help with conflict resolution, personal issues, academic problems,
study skills, career decisions, and other college life issues is available.

Disability accommodations and services are available to qualified students with disabilities.
Students needing accommodations due to any physical, psychological, or learning disability
should contact the Disability Services Coordiantor at least two weeks prior to the need for
accommodations. Asessment documentation of the disability is required to establish an
accommodation plan.

The Financial Aid Department assists students with applying for federal financial aid
including the Pell Grant and other need-based programs. Information about Durham Tech
scholarships is also available.
To apply for financial aid assistance directly online, visit
www.fafsa.ed.gov and start your application.
When you fill out the application, make sure to put Durham Tech's school code - 005448

Books in the Durham Tech library
Durham Tech's library catalog is available on the World Wide Web at

(At that address, scroll down to Durham Technical Community College and choose
the appropriate index -- Main, Northern Durham, or Chapel Hill campus)

Books at other North Carolina community colleges
At the same web address (http://www.cclinc.ncccs.cc.nc.us),
you can search the catalogs of 43 other North
Carolina community college libraries. Students and faculty from each
of the 44 colleges may borrow from other libraries in the consortium by
placing a hold on the item in the online catalog. Also, Durham Tech
students may use most other community college libraries in the state and
borrow from them in person, due to a reciprocal lending agreement.

Full-text newspaper, magazine and journal databases
The Durham Tech library also provides remote access to several full-text
databases. These databases include NC LIVE, InfoTrac, NewsBank, and
SIRS. A list and description of these databases can be found
on the library web
page.
Students in distance education classes can obtain passwords to those
databases by sending an e-mail message to library@durhamtech.edu.
The student should provide his/her name and the course number and section
(for example, ENG 111, section 090) of the distance education class.

The Registraiton Department provides information about registration dates,
telephone registration, registration changes, withdrawal procedures, and change
of address requests.
Contact the registration department at (919) 686-3378 or (919) 686-3379 for
one of the above requests, however to actually register for a course, please
choose one of these options:
To register for online classes, consult the detailed
online course registration instructions.
To register for traditional classes, consult the printed class schedule, and the
Advising Center web site.
The Campus Learning Center offers free tutoring in Accounting,
Computers, Math, Reading, Science, Spanish, and Writing.
